Annual Performance and Development Process for Academic Employees
72.1 This clause applies to Continuing and Fixed-term Academic Employees.
72.172.2Criteria for Academic Performance are set out in the relevant University policy (as amended from time to time).
72.272.3This clause is designed to provide a mechanism to assess performance and support the development of Academic Employees. The main objectives of Academic Employee supervision and the Annual Performance and Development process are to:
a. identify and implement developmental/growth opportunities for Academic Employees;
b. provide feedback and assistance to Academic Employees, including those whosewhere performance is assessed as requiring improvement; and
c. set expectations and plan performance goals that align with organisational and University priorities.
72.372.4In accordance with relevant University policy, each Academic Eemployee will meet with their Supervisor for the purposes of conducting a formal appraisal and Annual Performance and Development discussion.
72.472.5 The documentation used to support this process will facilitate consideration of achievements consistent with the expectations outlined in the Criteria for Academic Performance.
72.572.6TheseAnnual Performance and Development documents, which include ratings and Supervisor comments,/recommendations will be provided to the employee for acknowledgement and comment at the conclusion of the Annual Performance and Development processsighted and signed by the Academic Employee and submitted to the relevant University process at the appropriate time.
72.6The outcomes of the appraisal will include one or more of the following:
the Supervisor's assessment of progress of probationary employees;
the Supervisor’s assessment of performance;
a personal and professional development plan, completed and agreed by the Academic Employee and their Supervisor. This document will remain confidential to the Academic Employee, the Supervisor and the Head of School / Organisational Unit;
the Supervisor's recommendation concerning incremental progression (where required); and/or
the Supervisor's recommendation in relation to mid-term and final review for Continuing appointment, or for promotion, or for Special Studies Program (or any replacement) as appropriate.
