Enterprise Bargaining petition
UQ performs a vital public mission: educating future generations for professional careers and active civic engagement, deepening our understanding of the world, and helping make it a better place. UQ’s workers are indispensable to realising every part of that mission. Without us, UQ would grind to a halt. To ensure that UQ continues providing a high-quality education to students and keeps producing research of social, economic and cultural importance, the workers who keep UQ running deserve decent, secure, fairly paid jobs and respect from management. UQ staff have made this clear in our log of claims for bargaining [link] – the product of unprecedented staff consultation and a highly democratic process involving hundreds of workers. Our claims include:
a 20% pay rise for all staff in increments to September 2029,
improved access to secure work for fixed-term and casual staff,
stronger workload protections for professional and academic staff,
guaranteed academic sabbaticals after three years,
17% superannuation for casual staff,
better access to flexible working arrangements, and
paid leave over the Christmas–New Year shutdown.
After months of negotiations over a new Enterprise Agreement with limited meaningful progress, we call on UQ senior management to accept our log of claims – and make UQ a better place for staff to work and students to learn.
