8. The Agreement will provide 17% superannuation for casual staff.

The Bargaining Team presented this claim in the bargaining meeting on 27/5/26, explaining that casuals are the only staff at UQ who do not receive 17% superannuation. Management declined to agree or bargain on this claim. Management have claimed they would prefer to focus on helping casuals obtain more secure work.
In May 2026 The University of Newcastle agreed to pay 17% super to their casual staff.
This claim was mentioned in passing in bargaining meeting on 17/6/26, the bargaining team mentioned the historic University of Newcastle agreement, management claimed to not be aware of it.
