8. The Agreement will provide 17% superannuation for casual staff.

  • The Bargaining Team presented this claim in the bargaining meeting on 27/5/26, explaining that casuals are the only staff at UQ who do not receive 17% superannuation. Management declined to agree or bargain on this claim. Management have claimed they would prefer to focus on helping casuals obtain more secure work.

  • In May 2026 The University of Newcastle agreed to pay 17% super to their casual staff.

  • This claim was mentioned in passing in bargaining meeting on 17/6/26, the bargaining team mentioned the historic University of Newcastle agreement, management claimed to not be aware of it.
