Tea, Biscuits and Collective Power: Join Us This Strike-temberOn the afternoon of Tuesday, 8 September, NTEU members will stop work for a half-day strike as we take the next step in our campaign for a better and fairer UQ. If you’ve never taken industrial action before—or if the idea of going on strike feels a little daunting—this action is for you. We’re planning a welcoming rally: come along, stand with your colleagues, have some cake and biscuits, and add your voice to the growing number of UQ workers saying that we deserve better. You don’t need to be a seasoned activist. You don’t need to shout slogans or give a speech. You just need to show up. There is real power in hundreds of ordinary UQ workers standing together and saying that fair pay, secure jobs, manageable workloads, decent working conditions and a better university are worth fighting for. Management is already paying attention to our industrial action. On 8 September, we have an opportunity to make our collective voice even harder to ignore.
