All our claims are on the table and the clock is ticking..After months of consultation with members and extensive work by the bargaining team, all claims have now been tabled with UQ Management. The meeting this week also included further discussion of UQ Management claims including a proposal that would require staff to provide detailed medical information when requesting personal & carer’s leave. We raised serious concerns about this proposal as it represents a significant breach of privacy and could create additional barriers for staff accessing the leave they are entitled to. With all our claims now on the table, attention turns to UQ Management and their claims. We’ve made our priorities clear and are now waiting for UQ Management to table their full position and respond substantively to the issues raised by workers.
The next phase of bargaining will provide a clearer picture of whether UQ Management are prepared to address the real concerns facing staff including cost of living pressures, insecure work and excessive workloads. We’ll continue to keep you updated. As always, member engagement remains critical. The stronger and more visible the collective support for these claims are, the stronger our position will be.
